Beethoven's teacher in Vienna 1801/1802
Beethoven, meanwhile 30 years old and very successful in Vienna as piano virtuoso and composer of chamber and orchestral music, took lessons with Salieri in Italian vocal music to complete his skills and as a preparation for his own opera ideas.
