JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH (1685-1750)

Beethoven studied Bach's "The Well-Tempered Clavier" with Neefe and arranged later several fugues from this work.
Though studying Bach was a main task for many composers most of Bach's work, including "The Well-Tempered Clavier" circulated only in manuscript copies for a long time and was printed after 1800.
