Professionelle Notenhandschrift auf 10-zeiligem italienischen Notenpapier mit Wasserzeichen "COMICI ZUCCHETTA". Wenige Korrekturen und Tintenwischer, sehr gut erhalten.
The "Sei Quartetti" (4 parts: 35, 31, 28, 26 pages, scribal copy on Italian 10-stave music paper with watermark "COMICI ZUCCHETTA") begin with the first three string quartets op. 2, dedicated to Joseph Haydn, composed probably in Rome 1786-1787 and published in Paris by Imbault (PN 189) as "2e livre des quatuors". The last 3 quartets were published by Imbault (PN 494) around 1794 as "4e livre des quatuors" and are very rare - only one copy in RISM. - Probably from the Padova region, as RISM lists one music manuscript from Padua, 1794 with this watermark and a "società commerciale Comici-Zucchetta" is mentioned in a document from this region in 1786. - Gyrowetz is one of the composers of the Viennese classic. Born in Budweis he spent some time in the midth of the 1780s in Vienna, where he met Haydn and Mozart, who performed a symphony by Growetz in one of his concerts. 1786 Gyrowetz was engaged by prince Ruspoli and travelled with him to Italy where he composed his first string quartets (Rome 1786/87), published by Imbault in Paris. 1790 Gyrowetz went to London for three years, where he met Haydn again and provided some works for the Haydn-Solomon concerts. From 1793 back in Vienna he became music director und composer for the Imperial Court Theatre.
* Sarrasin Katalog 1800 / 2021-2023, 2033-2035, RISM A/I G 5354, RISM Id 406003030. - Die ersten drei Quartette sind die Haydn gewidmeten Quartette op. 2/1-3 (von 6), veröffentlicht als "2e Livre des Quatuors" (Paris, Imbault, PN 189, ca. 1790), die letzten 3 Quartette sind das "4e Livre des Quatuors", Imbault PN 494, ca. 1794. - Datierung über das Wasserzeichen "COMICI ZUCCHETTA" - vgl. das Musikmanuskript RISM 455020056 von 1794 aus Padua. Die "società commerciale Comici-Zucchetta" wird 1786 auch in einem Dokument aus der Region Padua erwähnt. - Adalbert Gyrowetz, Komponist der Wiener Klassik, aus Budweis stammend, war Mitte der 1780er Jahre in Wien, wo er Haydn und Mozart traf, der von ihm eine Symphonie in einem seiner Konzerte aufführte. Danach ging Gyrowetz in Diensten des Fürsten Ruspoli nach Italien, wo 1786/87 seine ersten Streichquartette entstanden, die von Imbault in Paris gedruckt wurden. Nach einem dreijährigen Aufenthalt in London, wo er 1791/92 wieder mit Haydn zusammentraf und auch als Komponist an den Haydn-Salomon-Konzerten beteiligt war, kehrte er 1793 nach Wien zurück, ab 1803 Kapellmeister und Komponist der k. k. Hoftheater. - Die Haydn gewidmeten Quartette op. 2 wurden mehrfach nachgedruckt, die hier im zweiten Teil enthaltenen Quartette des 4e livre (Imbault 494) sind hingegen sehr selten und nur in 1 Exemplar in RISM gelistet.
